About Covenant Groups
Spiritual leaders need soul-strengthening community, too.
Pastors and ministry leaders often talk about community the most, but experience it the least. They carry the hard hits and heart hits of ministry, often while caring for everyone else and leaving little room to care for their own souls.
Covenant Connections was created because transformation is not a destination. It is a journey. And that journey cannot be taken alone. We believe the missing element in spiritual transformation for many leaders is life with the right people.
Our Story
How it all started
Covenant Connections began through the vision of Alan Ahlgrim, who spent decades trying to crack the code of transformative soul care. After leading a large church in Colorado, Alan observed that many pastors and staff leaders were struggling to see transformation in their own lives. In his retirement years, he dedicated himself to helping leaders move from “head land to heart land” through intentional relationships, soul care, and life with the right people.
What began as a burden for pastors has grown into a ministry helping leaders build the kind of trusted community they need to serve with strength and finish well.

Covenant Connections provides soul-care groups for ministry leaders where they can be fully known and fully loved, helping them lead well, love well, and finish strong.
We create intentional spaces where ministry leaders can be known, encouraged, challenged, and supported by others who understand the unique joys and burdens of leadership.
Our Vision
The vision of Covenant Connections is to create intentional, disciplined communities where participants develop soul strength and are committed to helping one another serve and finish well.
Through Covenant Groups, leaders walk together over time in honest conversation, prayer, retreat, and mutual care.
Our Beliefs
What We Believe
Covenant Connections is rooted in the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry flows out of historic Christian convictions about God, Scripture, humanity, salvation, the Church, and the return of Christ.
God
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Revelation
God has revealed himself to us through his Son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, through the Holy Scriptures, and through all of creation itself.
Mankind
Humans, both male and female, were created in God’s image for his glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God’s creation.
The Fall
When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.
Salvation
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. To believe in Jesus means we trust and follow him as both Savior and Lord. When we commit to trust and follow Jesus, we express this faith by repenting from sin, confessing his name, and receiving baptism by immersion in water. Baptism, as an expression of faith, is for the remission of sins. We uphold baptism as the normative means of entry into the life of discipleship. It marks our commitment to regularly die to ourselves and rise to live for Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Church
The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Resurrection
Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God’s kingdom on earth.
Our Leadership
Led by experienced ministry leaders
Covenant Connections values leadership experience. Each member of the leadership team has proven themselves in local church ministry, Covenant Group leadership, organizational leadership, prayer ministry, or facilitator care.
Together, they seek to honor the legacy of Alan Ahlgrim and help pastors and ministry leaders experience full and fruitful ministry, transformed by the Holy Spirit.

Covenant Connections believes pastors and ministry leaders need more than programs and resources. They need faithful prayer, trusted relationships, and encouragement from people who understand the weight of ministry.
Through the Prayer Ministry, Covenant Connections supports pastors, ministry staff, facilitators, Covenant Groups, and prayer teams across the country and around the world.
